Updated: Oct 30

We at Simplify Climate believe it is crucial for organisations to start understanding and integrating menopause in the workplace. Creating a workplace where everyone feels supported and understood benefits the entire organisation.

Why do men at the workplace need to increase their awareness?

  1. Support and Empathy: Menopause can significantly impact a woman’s physical and emotional wellbeing. By understanding what their colleagues are going through, men can offer better support and empathy, fostering a more inclusive and compassionate work environment.

  2. Improved Communication: Awareness of menopause can improve communication between colleagues. It helps in breaking down stigmas and encourages open discussions about health and wellbeing, which can lead to better teamwork and collaboration.

  3. Enhanced Productivity: Menopause symptoms can affect performance and attendance. By understanding these challenges, men can help create a supportive environment where women feel comfortable discussing their needs and seeking accommodations, ultimately leading to enhanced productivity.

  4. Leadership and Inclusivity: Leaders who are knowledgeable about menopause can set a positive example and promote a culture of inclusivity. This can help in retaining valuable employees and ensuring that everyone feels valued and understood.

  1. Personal Awareness: Understanding menopause is also part of broader health literacy. It can help men better support their partners, family members, and friends who may be experiencing menopause.
